Design brief
Nice Dream is a high‑rise mixed‑use building in the center of Nicosia, conceived as a slender metal‑clad prism resting lightly on a curved glass plinth.
Its façade is composed of vertical aluminum panels—some solid, others perforated and operable—forming a dynamic environmental skin. This system moderates the intense summer heat while carefully controlling how daylight enters the interior.
The building’s character shifts throughout the day: during daylight hours, the façade “closes,” shielding the interior from direct sun and reducing thermal load; at night, the panels “open,” allowing interior light to filter outward through the perforated surfaces. This reversible transformation creates a subtle, ever‑changing dialogue between the building and the city, turning the façade into both a protective mechanism and an expressive architectural gesture.
