Design brief
The Biological Sciences building operates simultaneously as a boundary and a connector within the campus. To the east, it aligns with the Faculty of Science and Applied Sciences and the surrounding built fabric; to the west, it opens toward the shared teaching spaces and the natural landscape. Its position at this intersection allows it to mediate between dense academic structures and open terrain, giving the building a dual identity.
This role shapes its architectural character: it defines an edge while enabling continuity, stitching together different parts of the campus and creating a clear transition between the urban and the natural. Through this balance of enclosure and openness, the building becomes both a threshold and a unifying element in the wider academic environment.
